Our Story - Learn to quilt to relax
Hi, I am Stephanie Tremblay Green, owner and operator of a dream come true = Green Acres Quilts in Falcarragh, Co. Donegal, Ireland. Originally from the U.S. in Mass and New Hampshire I met my husband at a dance in 1994 and we were married in 1996. He is from Ireland and wanted to return. Both of us were working – he on construction in Boston and me in the ER at Saints Memorial Emergency Room in Lowell, Ma. We both retired in 1999 and came back to his homeland in Falcarragh, Co. Donegal and built our home. We travelled quite a bit in those first few years and explored the world. I started working at Letterkenny General hospital in the ER to keep my hands in the pie – just part time . On the way to work one day I saw a sign for a quilt class in Dunfanaghy and signed up to learn to quilt. And I got the quilting BUG! That was 2006. Jump ahead 3 years and the owner of the shop announced her retirement and panic began. She talked me into giving it a try and 2 months later I opened Green Acres Quilts – and have never looked back! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be a shop owner – but it has brought more fun, friends, travel and excitement into my life than I could have imagined

I stock over 1500 bolts of high quality 100% cotton material for quilt making, all the supplies needed – including machines and run weekly classes for every level of quilter. We offer new and exciting quilts in Sept and Jan with lots of smaller workshops in between. Our quilt weekends are offered 3 times a year where 8 people come in for the weekend and complete a quilt top. The excitement they feel when they have finished their heirloom keeps me going. During the summers we offer 2-3 workshops each week for those on vacation who want to have a bit of fun and try their hand at sewing. We attend Quilt shows all over the country and bring the shop with us!
We have launched an on line store featuring lots of our kits – so no worries about matching materials of getting enough. All the work is done for you – except the sewing! And the pride of making your own creation! These quilts will be around for a hundred years or more so it is critical that every quilt have a label from the person who made it and the year! Your great grandkids will appreciate it!
As we continue to grow we will offer new classes and teach new techniques – we may even appear on TV or doing videos on Instagram – if I can get my head around all this new technology!
So stay tuned into this website for all the updates.
